A cookie is a short piece of text a site asks your browser to keep. We set as few as we can: none for advertising, none for profiling, and none that follow you to other sites. Every one of them belongs to this site, and four of the eight exist only if you accept the measurement.
The cookies that are always there
These make the site and the app work. They hold nothing beyond what the one thing they do requires, and there is no way to switch them off and still have a working sign-in or a remembered language.
| Name | Where | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| lang | Website and app | Remembers the language you chose. | 12 months |
| theme | Website and app | Remembers whether you chose light mode, dark mode or your device’s own setting on your account, so the app and this site look the same. | 12 months |
| cookie_consent | Website | Remembers your answer to the banner, so you are asked once and not again. | 12 months |
| user_session | App | Keeps you signed in after you log in. HttpOnly and signed, so no script can read or forge it. | 30 days |
The analytics cookies, only if you accept
We use two tools on the website, and one Accept covers both. Google Analytics 4 counts: which pages get read, roughly where readers come from and on what kind of device. Microsoft Clarity shows: how far down a page people scroll, what they click, and a replay of the visit itself. Together they tell us which parts are worth writing more of. Neither is loaded until you press Accept. Until then, and for good if you press Decline, neither script is requested and none of these cookies exist.
| Name | Where | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Website, after Accept | Google Analytics: tells one browser apart from another. | up to 24 months |
| _ga_… | Website, after Accept | Google Analytics: holds the state of a single visit. | up to 24 months |
| _clck | Website, after Accept | Microsoft Clarity: recognises this browser when it comes back. | 12 months |
| _clsk | Website, after Accept | Microsoft Clarity: joins the pages of one visit into a single replay. | 1 day |
Advertising is refused for both tools in our configuration, and that refusal is why Microsoft sets no cookie of its own here: only the two above, on this site, are ever written. Google Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses, Microsoft deletes a replay after 30 days, and no candidate data can ever reach either of them: the app carries no analytics of any kind.
The campaign page asks separately
welcome.jobblower.com is made and served by Perspective, not from our own server, so it sets its own cookies and asks you about them with its own banner. That banner lists what it sets, and your answer there is the one that counts for that page. One thing is worth knowing, because a browser does not show it: the Google Analytics cookies above are written for jobblower.com as a whole, so the one set on any of our pages is the same one the others read. That is what lets a visit be counted once instead of twice, and it is also why declining is worth doing only once per browser.
If you decline, nothing breaks
Declining has exactly one consequence: the measurement does not happen. Every page, every language, every link and every function of the website and of the app work identically. We do not ask again for 12 months, and we do not put the banner up on the next page in the hope of a different answer.
Change your mind
Your answer is kept in your browser, so it belongs to that browser on that device. This button forgets it, removes the Google and Microsoft cookies if there are any, and asks you again.
Your browser can do it too
Every browser can delete cookies and refuse new ones, usually under privacy settings. Blocking the necessary ones is allowed as well. The site keeps working, it simply forgets your language and asks about analytics again on every visit.
Everything else
What we do with personal data in general (what is stored, what leaves the server, who processes it and what you can demand) is in the privacy policy.
